Behind the Shoot: Shooting Grip the Mat's Bendy Brunch at K Street Urban Farm

Happy Monday and happy July!

A few weeks ago -- actually, more like a month ago now -- I had the awesome opportunity to shoot a Grip the Mat Bendy Brunch at the K Street Urban Farm, which is run by DC Greens.

While I've shot events for Grip the Mat before, I've never shot an event on an urban farm -- let alone a yoga event on an urban farm.

It was a little weird seeing people mozy through their flows between rows of collard greens, but hey, as a photographer, it was a magically wonderful scene to capture!

It's funny, I used to live within walking distance of this part of town and I had no idea that this urban farm even existed or that there were events there and that anyone can come on Sundays to pick the produce and take it home.

Why aren't there more urban farms like this throughout the city?

*** P.S. If you want to see more photos like this, or hear more about Grip the Mat, or what a Bendy Brunch is, check out this post. I've written about Bendy Brunches in more detail before, so I don't want to repeat myself when I can just show you pretty pictures :)

I might be having too much fun on vacation: Is that even possible?

Yesterday I might have gotten a little out of hand taking selfies in my fantastic new workout gear from BODYPOP. This is what happens when a workout fashionista has too much time and a beautiful setting... oh well :)

I'm still totally in love with this collection of clothes, although I am finding that I prefer the pieces for less-intense workouts, like Pilates or yoga.

I'm also in the process of reviewing headbands and tennis shoes for some of my next Fiterazzi articles, so I've been busy running, biking, hiking and testing them all out. I can't wait until these articles come out -- I've had such fun trying all these new products!

Happy vacation!

My first trip to Chicago-- oh, I'm in love with this town!

A few weekends ago, Mr. Boyfriend and I headed to visit one of his friends in Chicago. Now. This was the first trip to the city for both Mr. Boyfriend and I, and boy-- did we fall madly, deeply in love with the city!

With days jam-packed with brunching at local favorites like Yolk and Toast, to site seeing Chicago architecture on a Seadog river and lake tour, to cheering on the Cubs and the Fire, we were go-go-go during our 4-day trip!

For once in my life, I really tried to focus on enjoying the scenary, and not on taking beautiful photographs, but you know me... that never works!

Here's a peak at a few of my favorite shots from the weekend. Just looking at them makes me want to go back!

Can you say deep dish, anyone?

The skinniest brunch: Food photography and dishing on my favorite skinny recipes

Yesterday I had a few of my favorite ladies over for a girl's brunch and decided to treat them of a wonderful spread of my favorite, delicious brunch dishes. The catch? Everything I served was gluten-free and Weight Watcher approved!

What's better than a guilt-free tasty weekend brunch?

Before I served my dishes, I decided to dabble in the wonderful world of food photography-- something I'll freely admit I have very little experience in. I love to cook and take photos, so really, there's no excuse in my lack of food photography expertise. I think I'm going to start keeping my camera around the kitchen a little bit more, and see what I can come up with.

Anyway.

Take a look at my photos, and check out the recipes! You won't be disappointed :)
